Songs...

Almost all of us listen to songs and actually like listening to songs... Sources are varied... Even though the iPod has started off an MP3 player revolution... there are people who still use conventional means like cassette tapes... (Gramophones... anyone?)

Anyway, my subject is not about that... a bit narrower... Favorites among songs...

Slow melodious, classical, extreme rock... and hundreds of other genres...

Then there are songs for different moods...

Now... more to the core... how do you feel listening to a particular song...?

A dance track for example, keeps you racy... at times... I sometimes picture myself playing in a basketball match with these songs running in the background...

Rock music... is again... something you can listen in the day-time when you are not in any particular...

I am not into any Hard or Extreme Rock and so I have always wondered... How does one feel when you heard nothing but metal disturbed by some voices in between...? Strange...

Then something slower... classical... no voice... just music... it takes some to a different place and I am yet to experience it...

Romantic and other melodious songs... also have a similar effect...

So my opinion about songs... before I commence I must say that there are always exceptions...

A song must move you if you are really to enjoy it... and some of those moments are lying down with the music playing... some thoughts picture up in your mind and along with the music... it is an amazing experience...

In this regard, I remember one amazing artist... who does that quite easily... He does not require complex pieces of music or anything... The mix of music, voice is so... moving...

He is from the Tamil Industry and has captured lakhs for more than a decade... just pure music... which these days is losing its identity to Western Music... This is about Tamil music only...

The Tamil Artist - Ilayaraja

The best songs... Flashback songs... songs which bring up memories... of friends... or situations or anything...

I think I need not explain much about it... A song which was playing during an important event... or a song you liked during a particular stage of your life... etc...

There were some songs which brought memories of my mother... though the song itself has nothing to do with it...

At one point of time... I used to hear a song too often and the song, its melody and all paints a wonderful Flashback...

The song... Phil Collins... Another Day in Paradise...

Please Shut Up !!!

How many of you out there are good listeners... or rather prefer listening...

I always thought that people who write a lot do not talk much but rather perfer to listen...

Well... just a situation... Imagine you are a doctor who is married to a woman from the Software Industry... At the end of a typical day, you both reach home frustrated with the day that went by.., and naturally you start to explain all about your day...

The lady would be talking about just how her code would not work while you would be explaining how the appendix would just not come out... (I have no idea about all that... )

Naturally, you would not understand head or tail about what the other person wants to say... and in your lousy mood... you would not feel like asking that person and that person would get even more frustrated explaining...

To stop confusing you even further... wouldn't it be nice... if each person agrees that they had a lousy day and go ahead with the day rather than delivering a lecture it...

And anyway, what reaction are you expecting from the other person... Sympathy? Empathy? Solution??? I have no idea...

Well some say that it is always good to vent out your thoughts... My dear friend, when what you speak means nothing but crap to the other person... and also dulls his mood off... why do it???

So that is just a suggestion from my side... Learn to control your mouth... and that is not just endless talk and gossip... also things like these...

Once we learn this art... we would be a lot more independant... though this does not apply for all situations...

One final word... just before you start off on a long talk... just imagine yourself in the listener's position and talk... You would automatically filter out a lot of crap from your talk... :0

Have a nice week ahead...

P.S - Sorry for the harsh title... but that is what would be running in the head of a poor listener at times... (again I say it... at times only)
